This is for all those fans of the series who, like me, think that it has the potential to be made into an excellent film series. This is just a thread for speculation, since it's probably highly unlikely that these novels will ever be made into films. But I'm curious who people might cast if they were to attempt such a feat. Here are some of my ideas.
Polgara: Cate Blanchett or Catherine Zeta Jones
Belgarath: Sean Connery?
Asharak: Alan Rickman
Barak: Robby Coltrane or John Rhys Davies
Beldin: Gary Sinise
Durnik: Tom Hanks
Silk: Charlie Sheen
Zakath: Ralph Fiennes
The Voice: John Malkovich
These are just a few ideas that I've come up with. I'm curious what others think.
Yeah, you're probably right in that they won't be made into movies, but it's a really neat idea. I never really thought of who might play the characters, but those are quite good choices. Personally, I prefered the Malorean, second series related to Belgariad, over the first series.
Have you read the Sparhawk series yet. I think those are better yet and they're by the same author.
The Elanium and the Talmuli, three books each and Elanium is first. Sorry about the spelling. If you need titles, let me know.

Oh, I forgot. I don't know if you read the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, but they made that into a weekly series on tv. It's not bad, but doesn't exactly follow the books in order. It was contracted by Disney productions to produce with input from the author himself.
I've read the Elenium and Tamuli, but I actually liked the Belgariad and Malloreon better. As for the TV series route I know that was done with the Dragonlance novels, or some of them at any rate, and it was actually quite horrible. Haven't read Sword of Truth, although I have considered it. It's gonna take quite a lot of Audible credits to get the entire series though. I don't always like the Library of Congress narrators and in any case I don't believe they're all up on the Bard website. I know all the Eddings books aren't up there. They don't even have all the Tolkien works up there yet. If there's one thing I hate it's starting a series from them and not being able to finish it.
That's so true. I started one of the later series by Weis and Hickman and now I can't get the last book. The one that reads the Sword of Truth series from NLS is a man and I tend to prefer them as readers over the women and yes, they do have all the series on the cassettes. I hope they get that new digital player out soon and start converting these cassettes over. Some are getting old and you can tell it by the sound. I never knew anyone tried to make a tv series from the Dragonlance, but I did see the movie they did on the first book, (autumn twilight). At least they stayed fairly close to the story, but it could've been a lot better. The tv series I mentioned was based on the Sword of Truth books and it's not bad, but I have no idea who is playing the parts, new actors I think.
Have fun reading.

I really like the guy who narrates the Belgariad and the fifth volume of the Malloreon. His name's Jon Beryl. The guy who narrates the first four Malloreon books is a guy named Hal Tenny, and while he's not horrible he doesn't really have the best voice for these sorts of books. But I really liked Jon Beryl's narrations. My favorite NLS narrators are Bob Askey, Jon Beryl, John Polk and Eric Sandvold. As for the Dragons of Autumn Twilight movie I never saw it all the wa through but I caught parts of it and I just couldn't get into it.
